The Debate on Regenerative Agriculture's Climate Mitigation Potential
A recent post by The World Resources Institute (WHI) titled “Regenerative Agriculture: Good for Soil Health, but Limited Potential to Mitigate Climate Change” (here) was met with several rebuttals from organizations like CalCAN and the many scientists that came together to craft a critique of the post.
Scientists including Dr. Rattan Lal, winner of the 2020 World Food Prize award and Ohio State soil scientist, IPCC lead scientist Pete Smith, National Academy and IPCC soil scientist Keith Paustian based at Colorado State, FAO Year of the Soils lead scientist Claire Chenu, French soil carbon scientist Jean-Francois Soussana, and others prepared the critique titled “Climate Mitigation Potential of Regenerative Agriculture is Significant!” in response to WHI’s claims.
All three posts provide fodder on this topic and we hope that you enjoy reading them.
